Angad, Bangued native Guessteen Merile Andia Aznar, 22, bagged gold at the 7th Daedo 7th Daedo Taekwondo Championship in Singapore, 67kg Kyurogi Event last December. 

She bested her opponents from Thailand, China, and Singapore.

Aznar is a 3rd year BS Psychology student of De La-Salle University in Dasmariñas, Cavite. She dreams of becoming a professional taekwondo instructor.

She started taekwondo at the age of eight. Her parents Baby Mediatrix Andia Aznar and Don Gustav Senen Aznar supported her in training and competitions.

She trained under coach Glenn Buenafe when she became a CARAA athlete and joined vaious regional and national competitions where she won silver and gold medals.

For Aznar, the rigorous training in taekwondo helped her improve physically and mentally.

Aznar is now preparing for the Private Schools Athletic Association and Philippine University Games in March and October this year.
