Philippine Red Cross Abra Chapter and Department of Education (DepEd)-Abra administered the first ResilienSiglat Quiz Bee at Bangued West Central School Social Hall on July 26, 2019.
The activity is held to support the National Disaster Resilience Month this July. It aims to raise awareness on climate change and Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) law and involve the youth in the services of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) as Red Cross Youth Councils.
“Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro Para Sa Tunay na Pagbabago” is the theme for this year’s National Disaster Resilience Month.
The schools that participated in the quiz bee include Northern Abra National High School, Quidaoen National High School, San Quintin National High School, Gaddani National High School, Abra High School, Rosario Eduarte National High School, Luzong National High School, Boliney National High School, Marc Ysrael B. Bernos Memorial National High School, Cayapa National High School, Cristina B. Gonzales Memorial High School, San Isidro National High School, and Dugong National High School.
Cristina B. Gonzales Memorial High School bagged the championship with 98 points. Gaddani National High School and Abra High School came in second and third place with 93 and 67 points respectively.
