During the first-Monday flag raising ceremony for October, National Stock Assessment Program-Abra Enumerator Victor Delusen of Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources presented to his fellow public servants the programs, services, and activities of the bureau.

Victor Delusen also said that the distribution of fingerlings is continuous.

On programs and services, he mentioned the provision of free fingerlings to registered fisherfolks in the province. Another is the technology demonstration intended to those who cannot afford to buy feeds for the fingerlings.

He also talked about the newly constructed Community Fish Landing Center along Calaba River which is the only fish landing center in Cordillera.

To protect the river and lakes in Abra, BFAR has launched two projects: Sagip Ludong and Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa. Sagip Ludong Project prohibits the catching of ludong in the Abra River. Ludong or the President’s fish is known to be the most expensive fish in the Philippines because of its rarity. Working in conjunction with this is the Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa which protects lakes and rivers in the province. The bureau also offers scholarships to children of registered fisherfolks. Applicants are encouraged to visit BFAR-Abra Field Office located at Brgy. Calaba until November 29, 2018.
