Provincial Government of Abra headed by Governor Maria Jocelyn Valera Bernos and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) launched the Art Exhibit by Abreño Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) which runs from July 9 to 13, 2018, at the Provincial Capitol Governor’s Gallery.
Abra PWD Art Exhibit is one of the activities for the Rambak Ti Kappia 2018 celebration and the 40th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week with the theme “Kakayahan at Kasanayan para sa Kabuhayan tungo sa Kaunlaran.”
The exhibit was formally opened by Governor Bernos, Vice Governor Ronald Balao-as, Abreño actor and filmmaker Dexter Macaraeg, Mr. Chat Cariño, Dr. Wilhelmina Culangen, and PSWDO Decimia Cabang. SB members Kathleen Maria Balbin, Elmer Gayao, Leonard Andanan, IPMR Romel Daoaten, different department heads, Fr. Sam Baruela, brazilian Sisters and other personalities also graced the event.
The Art Exhibit showcases the different works of art from three PWD artists in the province: Jorge “Amado” Balneg, Jerry T. Tubig, and Arlyn Sabaot.
“Sa mga kagaya naming persons with disabilities, dapat ipakita nila na kaya din nilang gumawa ng ganitong mga bagay maski mayroon silang kapansanan,” Mr. Balneg said. Mr. Tubig added “My condition is not a hindrance for me to create beautiful artworks”.
