Welcome to Abra Province

Welcome to the official website of the province of Abra!

Good governance is shared governance.  We believe in an empowered citizenry, where the people reign supreme over all government entities.  Towards this end, we seek to harness the power of modern technology, including the world wide web.  This website is hoped to serve as a venue of participation of the Abrenio community in steering the province, especially with interactive tools it is equipped with.

The province of Abra is among the few places left in the country that can boast of well-preserved nature and culture.  Unspoiled wonders of nature, precious endowments, and of course, a fascinating dual culture – you can find it all here in Abra.    But even as we remain steadfast to our roots,  we likewise look forward to a future of Abra as a fast-paced, economic giant in the North.  Who we are and what we aspire to be, you can all find it here.

Explore, enjoy and let us know what’s on your mind!

The Leadership of Governor Takit

When fellow mediamen from Baguio City and Manila came recently to Abra to cover a big and significant affair, some of them said:  “The governor seems very quiet and not showy about his infrastructure projects, or does he not have enough projects to boost his administration’s performance? It seems your congressional representative is more aggressive in projects implementation!?” By:  Dr. Maritess Beñas, PIA-Abra  Readmore...

THE WORKING GOVERNOR

Gov. Takit has gained the love and respect of his people for a lot of reasons, but the governor stands out most for the exceptionally modest and casual way that he carries his stature, only asserting his being Abra’s Chief Executive when needed.  And certainly, he deems it unnecessary when he exchanges a few laughs with constituents he is meeting for the first time, when he nonchalantly starts a warm conversation with a friend, colleague or just someone he knew, or when he casually greets PGA employees in the morning at the capitol’s entrance. GOV. TAKIT: CONSISTENT SERVICE

PNP Chief Directorate Gen. Eugene Martin, during the Manifesto Signing for CHOPE (Clean, Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Elections) in the province, acknowledged the great strides that the province has made in development and peace-building.  “Adon iti dalan nga nasemento, marikna tay pay met iti sinseridad dagiti lideres tayo para iti nataltalna nga probinsiya, dagiti pay metten bisita nga um-umay ditoy ket ado ti napintas nga masao da panggep iti probinsiya.”   Readmore...

Power of Convergence: The Lan-ag Experience

Barangay Lan-ag is a typical upland barangay of Lacub, Abra nestled within the high mountains and accessible only through hours of trekking along rugged mountain trails. The natural beauty of the surroundings belies the fact that the people are suffering from many socio-economic concerns that affect their daily lives. Because of their isolation, Brgy Lan-ag is rarely the object of attention of the authorities until the arrival of the Bravo Company, 41st Infantry (Partner for Peace) Battalion, 5ID, PA. Bravo Company, under 1LT REGIE H GO by: 1LT EDUARD L. SIA-ED (INF) PA  Readmore...

2nd AWP: Unity at Work

Once more, Abrenios have spoken, they want peace and they will make it happen.

The 2nd Abra Week for Peace (AWP), which was celebrated last December 4 – 10, drew active participation from the academe, local government units, cause-oriented groups, religious sects, indigenous peoples, government institutions and the youth.  A joint collaboration of the Provincial Government of Abra, 5th ID and 41st IB of the Philippine Army, Philippine Information Agency, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Trade and Industry, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, Department of Education, Concern Citizens of Abra for Good Governance, Abra Student Federation for Peace and the religious sector in the province, Abrenios found ample ways and means to express their aspirations for peace in their home-province in the many activities that were conducted during the week-long event.
