The Municipal Health Office of Tubo launched the Supo Dengue Awareness Day on July 30, 2019, to intensify the awareness on dengue prevention and control in the community.

Tubo Municipal Health Officer Jordan Dungga-as urged the sustainability of the 4S strategy of the Department of Health to combat dengue. 4S includes Search and destroy the breeding sites, Self-protection against mosquito bites, Seeking early consultation, and Space spraying.

“Destroying the breeding sites regularly is the best way to avoid dengue,” he said.

Supo Dengue Task Force leads the residents to conduct clean-up drives or Oplan Taob every morning and afternoon to destroy the mosquito breeding sites.

Dengue cases in Supo decreased from 88 cases in July 1-13 to 43 cases in July 14-27, 2019, while other barangays like Amtuagan, Dilong, Tabacda, and Wayangan had one to four dengue cases. Supo, Tubo is the most dengue affected barangay in Abra based from the record of the Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Unit of PHO.

The Provincial Health Office and DOH-CAR visited Tubo on July 22-23, 2019, and provided insecticides for spraying, dengue test kits, medicines, IV fluids, and insecticide treated nets for window screens.
