Tubo always has that calm and laidback vibe and one of its attractions is the pristine Utip River.
Floating picnic huts are set up at the middle of the river offering tourists a cozy place to dine and enjoy nature. The Dacuag picnic place, the newest destination along Utip River, is located in Barangay Tiempo, Tubo.
Utip River is also fast becoming a prime destination for hikers and visitors with a knack for the outdoors. For tourists who don’t mind getting a little wet, they could try bamboo rafting along the river. Campsites are set up along banks and can accommodate 20-50 overnighters. For P150-P200 each, overnight shelters are also available with free use of kitchen utensils.
Tubo Resident Orlando Sotelo said the picnic facility is owned by Sitio Dacuag and managed by the Women’s Rural Improvement Club and the Youth Organization of Dacuag. According to Sotelo, aside from local visitors from adjacent barangays and municipalities, tourists from Ilocos Sur frequently visit the picnic area.
