The PGA headed by Gov. Joy Bernos and private and public stakeholders are working to improve the wellbeing of Persons with Disabilities. On December 4, 2019, the PGA conducted the Christmas Program and General Assembly to empower and unify the Persons with Disabilities of Abra.
Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Leonard Andanan welcomed the participants from the different municipalities.
During the assembly, members submitted their nominations for the Person with Disability Affairs Officer (PDAO). The PDAO will become the focal person in ensuring the implementation of programs and services to Persons with Disabilities.
PSWD Officer Decimia Cabang reminded the Persons with Disabilities to register on the Philippine Registry of Persons with Disability (PRPWD) in their local Municipal Social Welfare Office. They will be given IDs that they can use to avail of their benefits.
Christopher Tugadi of Department of Labor and Employment-Abra announced the employment and livelihood programs they can avail under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood program and Special Program for Employment of Students.
Chief Social Insurance Officer Leonora A. Sobrevilla assures fast and accessible Philhealth services for Persons with Disabilities.
Together with the PGA, the Bankers Association of the Philippines-Abra, Red Cross Abra Chapter, and SVD Friends-Abra were among the stakeholders who also provided gifts and raffle prizes for the Persons with Disability.
