André Raf El Bragas from Danglas, 11, took home a gold medal during the 12th Phil. Archery Cup in Koronadal City, South Cotabato on May 24-26,2019.

He is a grade 7 student of Divine Word College of Bangued and a member of ORION Archery Club based in UST-Angelicum College in Quezon City.

With his family’s support, Bragas continues to train under former Philippine National Team Syd Nerickson Fraginal for national archery tournaments while he is still too young to qualify for international competitions.

Bragas started archery in summer of 2018 as a yeoman (20 meters distance). This year, he is already competing in Bowman Boys Category (30 meters distance).

He has competed in three other major competitions since January 2019 in Dumaguete City, Ormoc City, and Quezon City for the 2019 National Outdoor Open and Phil. Archery Cup where he won four gold medals and one silver.

André Raf El Bragas is the eldest child among the three children of Atty. Russell Bragas and Danglas Mayor Denise Florence Bernos Bragas.

Atty. Bragas said aside from winning in competitions, discipline is one of the best benefits of this sport.

“Archery requires discipline. In his young age, André is able to learn it in an exciting way,” he added.

It was reported earlier that Abra made a mark in archery during the CARAA 2019 for taking home gold and silver medals for the first time. Wynnter P. Benedito was awarded the Most Improved Player in archery. She competed in the Palarong Pambansa where she got a silver medal.
