In observance of the National Fire Prevention Month, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Abra focuses on fire safety awareness in homes in line with this year’s theme: “Ligtas na Pilipinas Ating Kamtin, Bawat Pamilya ay Sanayin, Kaalaman sa Sunog ay Palawakin.”
Among the activities of the BFP will be visiting barangays particularly homes and residences to inspect fire safety features.
Testado also said that BFP will be having an Open House for students-an activity where they will be visiting the fire stations to see the firetruck and other equipment used by the personnel.
Aside from the prescribed activities, BFP is also visiting schools to engage children in fire safety through poster making and essay writing. Winners will be representing the province at the regional and national level.
Testado said that they will be conducting a simultaneous fire drill in the province to culminate the Fire Prevention Month.
He said that the Bureau is thankful that the awareness on fire of the community is doing well.
“Sapay kuma ta nu kasano ti awareness tayo tatta a bulan ket itultuloy tayo kuma year round,” said Testado.
“Ikamkampanya mi kadagiti tattao nga aware da kuma iti importance ti fire safety,” he added.
In line with the enhancement of fire prevention, he said that the Bureau is currently implementing their new program, Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan. They are inspecting homes, residentials, establishments, hotels, and lodging houses in areas with a high number of fire incidents. Testado hopes by the time the program is fully implemented, cases of fire incidents in those areas will drop.
