Gov. Joy Bernos and the Department of Sciences and Technology Provincial Director Menandro B. Buenafe awarded DOST-grant livelihood project to the La Paz Women Association during the farmers and fisherfolks’ forum as part of the Farmers’ Day in celebration of the #AbrenianKawayanFestival2019.
The recipient received a dehydrator and food processing equipment amounting to P205,000. The pieces of equipment are intended to dry mangoes and other fruits for selling. Mangoes are one of the main products of La Paz.
Gov. Bernos announced that her office is open to receive resolutions from farmers associations of Abra requesting for farm inputs to improve production.
She immediately granted the resolution of Luzong Farmers Association of Luba requesting for one hand tractor, one water pump, five knapsack sprayers, and organic fertilizers during her speech. These farm inputs will be given through the Office of the Provincial Agriculture.
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-CAR Regional Director Milagros C. Morales and Vice Gov. Ronald S. Balao-as also awarded barangay terminal fish project package composed of one chest freezer, one weighing scale, four ice boxes, and 115 kilos of tilapia to the six fisherfolk associations of Danglas, Bucay, San Juan, Lagayan, Malibcong, and Tubo.
The forum was attended by Jerry N. Damoyan of the Department of Agriculture-CAR and Mercury Pascua of PCIC-Provincial Extension Office. They presented their different programs and projects available to the farmers.
