The Office of Provincial Agriculture (OPAg) continues to provide training programs and education about natural farming to the farmers in different municipalities of Abra in collaboration with the Agricultural Training Institute and municipal agriculturists.

Provincial Organic Agriculture focal person Marites Balling said they will go directly to the municipalities to give the trainings that they need to enable them to have a healthy and productive farm enterprise. They are also helping the farmers to become organized through Abra Organic Practitioners Agriculture Cooperative for more accessible and faster delivery of government services to the farmers.

Natural farming system, organic fertilizer production, and root crop production and processing are part of the training programs that can help the farmers cultivate plants and crops in a natural way without using chemicals to maintain fertility and ecological balance, Balling said.

Under the production support services, the OPAg have distributed vegetable seeds, molasses, garden tools, and plastic sheets to the farmers of Dolores, Lagangilang, Penarrubia, Bangued, and Licuan-Baay. Grasscutters, mini multi-tiller, and rain shelters are also given through agricultural equipment and facilities support services.
