“Brian Kurt Barbosa is the most promising player for Taekwondo”, Training Director Glenn Buenafe said on Monday in an exclusive interview at the Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology, Bangued Campus.

Kurt Barbosa is awarded as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Rookie of the Year during the Taekwondo (TKD) battle in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) tournaments. He is also recognized as the National Best of the Best in a National Competition for three consecutive years  (2016 to 2018). He also bagged a silver medal in Taekwondo in Vietnam representing the Junior Philippine team.

The young Abreño TKD black belt is a native of Zone 7 Bangued, Abra. He is the son of proud parents Archie and Regina Barbosa. He started his training as early as 6 years old with help of Buenafe.

Buenafe shared a remarkable statement of Barbosa during his training, “no saan ko nga aramiden daytoy, sir, saanak a makabasa”. Barbosa is now enjoying his full scholarship in National University in Manila.
