More than 200 K to 12 non-academic Abreño graduates joined the Job Fair conducted by DepEd Abra with the Provincial Government of Abra (PGA) at Bangued West Central School on June 19, 2018.

Booths were put up for the K to 12 non-academic Abreño graduates where they showcased their skills and products.

Potential partners of DepEd Abra such as DOLE, DENR, ADTEMPCO, and DOST attended the event as well as schools offering Technical-Vocational-Livelihood Track (TVL) under the K to 12 curriculum.

Ms. Hedwig Belmes, Curriculum Implementation Division Chief of DepEd, said the K to 12 program does not lengthen the period of schooling but rather help children who have inclination on TVL skills. And that at an early age, they can already put up their own businesses, be employed, and consequently help their families.

“We are happy an opportunity like this was given to our graduates. Several of them would not go to college but they could have a job or have their own business” Ms. Belmes said.

Ms. Belmes added that this could also be the school’s gauge whether Senior High Schools will be absorbed by agencies.
