Bureau of Fire Protection-Cordillera Administrative Region (BFP-CAR) holds 2018 Regional Fire Olympics at Abra Sports Complex on June 19-20, 2018. This is the first time the province is hosting this regional annual event of the BFP.

The event was participated by 238 officers, brigade and volunteers from the 6 provinces of the Cordillera: Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mt. Province. BFP-CAR Regional Director Lilibeth Q. Simangan, BFP-CAR Assistant Regional Director for Operations Ramel B. Borja, and the different provincial fire marshals were also in attendance.

Day 1 activities consisted of Arrival and Registration and the Mr. & Ms. Regional Fire Olympics while opening ceremony, competition proper, and awarding of trophies were held on the second day. 

Fire officers and volunteers from the region competed in 3 categories: Barangay, Industrial, and BFP. They readily played games and went through various challenges such as hose laying and replacement of busted hose, rescue and transfer relay and hose on shoulder relay.

“The event’s main objective is not only to enhance the knowledge and skills of the firefighters but also strengthen the relationship and develop cooperation of the organized fire brigade” Abra Provincial Fire Marshall Alex Testado said.

BFP-Abra is still the undefeated champion of the BFP Regional Fire Olympics.
