Vice Governor Ana Marie A. Bersamin led the validation of a potential sericulture site in San Juan, Abra on July 7, 2026, as part of the Provincial Government of Abra’s continuing initiative to promote silk production as a sustainable livelihood program.

The activity was conducted in partnership with the Local Government Unit of San Juan under Mayor Ari Lucas Bautista and representatives from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University–North La Union Campus (DMMMSU-NLUC). It builds on the July 1 benchmarking activity at DMMMSU-NLUC, where Abra’s local government officials explored best practices in sericulture.

The site assessment aims to determine the area’s suitability for silk production and pave the way for future sericulture projects that will generate livelihood opportunities and contribute to the province’s sustainable economic development.
