Families caring for children with thalassemia gathered for a day of learning, medical guidance, and support as the Department of Health (DOH), in partnership with the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC), and in coordination with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Abra Provincial Hospital (APH), conducted a Thalassemia Forum for Parents on September 24, 2026, at the Abra Provincial Capitol Atrium.

Initiated and supported by Vice Governor Anne A. Bersamin, the forum carried the theme, β€œBetter Understanding, Brighter Tomorrows for Children with Thalassemia.”

Around 31 children with thalassemia and their guardians received free blood testing, pediatric consultations, and social and behavioral change communication services. Dr. Frances Marie Alexis B. Gasa and Dr. Audrey Sab-it also shared vital guidance on thalassemia management, continuous care, and family support.

The activity strengthened a shared commitment to ensure that every child with thalassemia receives the care, understanding, and support they need to face tomorrow with hope.
