In celebration of the 48th National Disability Rights Week, the Provincial Government of Abra, through the Provincial Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), turned over therapeutic handlooms to the Abra SPED Center on July 17, 2026, at Bangued West Central School.

The initiative, under the “Boosting a Sustainable Handloom Weaving Industry in Abra: A CEST Project,” will benefit 81 SPED learners by fostering creativity, supporting therapeutic development, and building practical livelihood skills through handloom weaving.

The turnover reflects the shared commitment of the Provincial Government of Abra and DOST to advancing inclusive education and empowering learners with opportunities to thrive.
