The Provincial Government of Abra, in partnership with the Department of Transportationโ€“Cordillera Administrative Region (DOTr-CAR), conducted a free Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) for around 200 aspiring drivers from different municipalities. The two-day training was held on June 16โ€“17, 2026, at the ASIST Social Hall in Bangued.

The lectures were facilitated by Ramon Bocalan Jr., Cecilio Gallardo, and Emily Marticio of the Regional Drivers Education Center, who shared their expertise on road safety, traffic laws, and responsible driving practices. With many motorists already driving without licenses, the initiative aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge before they apply for their Student Permits and eventually obtain a license to drive.

In his message, Governor Eustaquio โ€œTakitโ€ P. Bersamin reminded participants that driving is a privilege that carries great responsibility. He encouraged aspiring drivers to become disciplined road users who value patience, obey traffic laws, and prioritize the safety of others.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Anne A. Bersamin, through IPMR-SP Jearimat Balao-as, expressed gratitude to the participants and partner agencies for supporting the initiative. She underscored the importance of the program in helping aspiring drivers meet the requirements to apply for their Student Permits and eventually obtain a license to drive.

The program highlights the shared commitment of DOTr-CAR and the Provincial Government of Abra to strengthen driver education and promote safer roads for everyone.
