The Provincial Government of Abra, through the Provincial Health Office, successfully conducted the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial 2026 on May 28 at the Abra Sports Complex, anchored on the theme: โLight the Legacy: Remember. Advance. Act. โ Keeping the Light Alive.โ
The event gathered advocates, health workers, stakeholders, and community members in a meaningful tribute of hope, solidarity, and renewed commitment in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Through the candlelight memorial, participants honored lives, celebrated progress, and strengthened the call for awareness, compassion, and collective action.
Governor Eustaquio P. Bersamin, through Atty. King Blas Jervin Pagtailan, emphasized the importance of breaking stigma through education, inclusivity, and community support while encouraging everyone to help build a more informed and compassionate society.
As candles were lit, so too was the shared commitment to keep the legacy alive: inspiring action, empowering communities, and fostering hope for a stigma-free future.
