The Provincial Government of Abra joined the 39th Cordillera Month Celebration on July 28, 2026, at ASIST, under the theme, “Smart Cordillera: Enabling Local Enterprises Through Digital Transformation and Accelerated Regional Autonomy.” The celebration gathered government agencies, indigenous peoples, academic institutions, and various stakeholders in honoring the Cordilleran identity, preserving its rich cultural heritage, and reaffirming the shared aspiration for a progressive, peaceful, and autonomous Cordillera.

A highlight of the program was the Ceremonial Beating of the Gong, led by Vice Governor Anne A. Bersamin, together with Atty. Jeanelle Seares, representative of Congressman Joseph Sto. Niño B. Bernos, and other officials. The symbolic rite reflected the Cordillera’s enduring traditions, unity, and collective commitment to peace and regional solidarity.

Serving as the Guest Speaker, Pag-asa Goldamir Balweg of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) encouraged participants to take pride in their cultural heritage and actively contribute toward building a peaceful, progressive, and autonomous Cordillera. Meanwhile, SPM Jearimat Balao-as, Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative, underscored the importance of preserving indigenous identity and traditions as the foundation of a united and empowered Cordillera.

Representing Governor Eustaquio “Takit” P. Bersamin, Assistant Provincial Administrator Atty. Israel Bonite reaffirmed the Provincial Government of Abra’s unwavering commitment to empowering communities, strengthening local enterprises, and advancing inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development for every Abreño.
