The Provincial Government of Abra and the Social Security System (SSS) formalized a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement on July 22, 2026, at the Provincial Social Hall in Bangued to extend social security protection to Contract of Service (COS) and Job Order (JO) personnel.

Governor Takit P. Bersamin and Vice Governor Anne A. Bersamin joined SSS Luzon North 1 Division Vice President Normita M. Cruz and SSS Bangued Branch Concurrent Acting Head Benjamin M. Rivera in signing the agreement, enabling qualified COS and JO personnel to register as self-employed SSS members under the Social Security Act of 2018.

The initiative provides access to vital SSS benefits, including sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, and death benefits, reflecting the Provincial Government of Abra’s continuing commitment to the welfare and financial security of its workforce.
