Amid persistent rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), the Provincial Government of Abra, led by Governor Eustaquio P. Bersamin through the initiative of Vice Governor Anne A. Bersamin, extended immediate assistance to affected families in San Juan and La Paz on August 11, 2026.
In San Juan, 316 families from Brgy. Quidaoen and evacuees at San Juan Central School received food packs from the Provincial Government, while a DSWD Cordillera Administrative Region mobile kitchen served hot meals prepared by DSWD CAR Nutritionist Elen Bugalin-Ayan.
In Mudeng, La Paz, families affected by the recent landslide likewise received relief assistance from the Provincial Government.
The response was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the PDRRMO, PSWDO, Municipal Government of San Juan led by Mayor Ari Lucas Bautista, Municipal Government of La Paz led by Mayor NiΓ±a Bernos, and the 50th Infantry Division, Philippine Army.
