Led by Vice Governor Hon. Ana Marie A. Bersamin, the Abra delegation conducted a benchmarking activity at the Laoag City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) on August 4, 2026, as part of the province’s continuing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and response.

The delegation, composed of representatives from the PDRRMO, Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and Office of the Vice Governor, was welcomed by Laoag City Mayor Hon. James Bryan B. Alcid.

CDRRMO Head Dr. Melvin Manuel shared Laoag City’s best practices in disaster preparedness, emergency response, operational systems, and resilience-building. The delegation also toured the city’s command center and emergency response facilities for a firsthand look at its disaster management capabilities.

Laoag City OIC Tourism Officer Mary Jane P. LeaΓ±o likewise presented the city’s initiatives in sustainable tourism and cultural heritage preservation.

Through continued learning and inter-LGU collaboration, the Provincial Government of Abra remains committed to building safer, more resilient communities and delivering responsive public service to every AbreΓ±o.
