Led by Vice Governor Hon. Ana Marie A. Bersamin, the Abra delegation conducted a benchmarking activity at the Laoag City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) on August 4, 2026, as part of the provinceβs continuing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and response.
The delegation, composed of representatives from the PDRRMO, Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and Office of the Vice Governor, was welcomed by Laoag City Mayor Hon. James Bryan B. Alcid.
CDRRMO Head Dr. Melvin Manuel shared Laoag Cityβs best practices in disaster preparedness, emergency response, operational systems, and resilience-building. The delegation also toured the cityβs command center and emergency response facilities for a firsthand look at its disaster management capabilities.
Laoag City OIC Tourism Officer Mary Jane P. LeaΓ±o likewise presented the cityβs initiatives in sustainable tourism and cultural heritage preservation.
