The Provincial Government of Abra, through the initiative of the Office of the Vice Governor, successfully conducted a Biochar Forum on July 31, 2026, at Bamboo Organic Farm in Calaba, Bangued, reinforcing its commitment to climate-smart and sustainable agriculture.
Held in partnership with Carmelita Bersalona and the Local Government Unit of San Isidro, the forum brought together agricultural stakeholders and government representatives to deepen their understanding of biochar as an innovative solution for improving soil health, increasing crop productivity, and promoting responsible agricultural waste management.
Former DENR Undersecretary Philip Camara, Mrs. Ching Camara, and their team from Sambali Beach Farm in Botolan, Zambales, shared valuable insights on biochar production and its role in enhancing farm resilience while supporting environmental conservation through long-term carbon storage.
The activity also fostered collaboration among local governments, agricultural practitioners, and partner agencies, highlighting the importance of collective action in advancing sustainable farming. Through initiatives like this, the Provincial Government of Abra continues to empower farmers with science-based innovations for a greener and more resilient future.
