Employees of both government and private sectors are entitled to receive reimbursement package from the Employees Compensation Commission (ECC) at the event of work-related sickness, injury, or death.

A seminar was conducted by ECC to disseminate the information to Abreños on December 4, 2019, at Lucky’s Hotel, Bangued. It was attended by 79 employees and employers from different business establishments in the province.

ECC Deputy Executive Director Jonathan T. Villasoto said that aside from the benefits from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and the Social Security System (SSS) an employee may also be entitled to the Employees Compensation Program (ECP).

The ECP covers private sector workers who are registered compulsory members of SSS and overseas seafarers. Employees who are registered members of GSIS, elective government officials, and men in uniform are also covered by ECP.

Villasoto explained that unlike GSIS and SSS, ECC does not  require monthly contributions. “It is the employer’s obligation to remit ECC monthly contributions,” he added.

The deputy director concluded that ECC claims may be filed at the nearest SSS Office for the private sector and at GSIS for government employees and uniformed men.
