11-year old Julianne Benido from Luba-Tubo District wins the chess championship at the ongoing Provincial Meet. Benido bested her opponents in all 5 games. According to her, she only had one week of training before the competition. “I was inspired by my mother and helped by my trainer Mr. Melchor Valera,” she added.

She has joined the Provincial Athletic Meet three times and will join CARAA for the third time next year.

Kyle Christopher Villa from Zone 3 PEPILAQUIN District wore his big smile as he received his first ever championship  award. The 12-year old boy did not expect to win as he only placed third in the past Provincial Athletic Meet. According to Villa, his grandfather trained him before the competition.
