To reach more disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals in the municipalities, DSWD-CAR in coordination with PGA oriented LGUs on the different social services and programs of DSWD.

DSWD-CAR Assistant Regional Director Enrique Gascon Jr. asked the commitment of Mayors, Sangguniang Bayan and Liga ng Barangay members of Abra on the implementation of social services, during the Province-wide Convergence Caravan at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall on November 5, 2019.

During the caravan, SWAD-Abra team leader Myrna Bersalona also presented their accomplishments for the first and second quarters of 2019.

Bersalona reported that 8,705 day care children are provided with supplemental feeding. Out of 1,768 listed malnourished children in Abra, 1,663 has improved nutritional status after the 120 days of supplemental feeding. This program provides additional feeding to regular meals as DSWD’s part of the Early Childhood Care and Development Program of the government.

A total of P54,940,500.00 were disbursed to 16,411 indigent, frail, and sickly senior citizens under the Social Pension Program. P100,000.00 was given to a centenarian beneficiary from Manabo.

The SWAD-Abra Crisis Intervention Unit provided cash assistance to 316 individuals in crisis situations.

Since 2018, 4,166 indigent beneficiaries were provided with P2,400 each. Bersalona said these beneficiaries received P200 per month under the Unconditional Cash Transfer.
