Department of Agriculture-Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-CAR) Research Specialist Benita U. Bilgera facilitates the Package of Technology (POT) and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) on Onion and Garlic Production Training to 36 farmers and LGU representatives from the different municipalities of Abra on July 18, 2019, at the Provincial Capitol. 

“This training is necessary for farmers so that they will know how to produce garlic and onion in accordance with good agricultural practices,” Provincial Coordinator on High-Value Crops Development Program Christopher Gulloy said.

High-Valued Crops Development Program (HVCDP) is one of the banner programs of DA-CAR. Under this program, DA also conducted Package of Technology Training on High Valued Commodities such as lowland Vegetables, Mango, Onion and Garlic. 

Farmers and LGUs of San Quintin (5), Dolores (3), Peñarrubia (2), Bucay (1), Bangued (3), Tubo (2), Villaviciosa (2), Lagayan (1), Pidigan (3), Lagangilang (1), San Juan (1), Tayum (1), and La Paz (11) attended the training.

The main objective of this training is to educate the Abreños on producing garlic and onion in accordance with good agricultural practices.
