The Department of Education Abra Schools Division Office encourages parents to actively participate in school governance for the improvement of the delivery of basic education services during the first general assembly for school year 2019-2020 of the Parents and Teachers Associations (PTA) in public schools on June 8, 2019.

Senior Education Program Specialist Jan Nowel Peña said the PTA as a support group of the school is also the voice of the parents. Issues and concerns can be discussed and resolved during PTA meetings. PTA also works with the school on its policies and improvement plans to ensure quality education for students.

Parents were informed on the schedule of classes, activities and competitions, grading and awarding system, and food safety policies, PTA financial report, and accomplishments during the PTA assembly.

Based on DepEd Order No. 54, s. 2009 or the Revised Guidelines Governing Parents-Teachers Associations at the School Level, the PTA shall serve as a significant partner of the school whose relationship shall be defined by cooperative and open dialogue to promote the welfare of students.
