Gov. Joy Bernos urged the Local Chief Executives (LCE) to be more active in maintaining peace and order in their municipalities through their participation in Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting. She said a peaceful and secured province will boost its tourism and economic development.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Abra Provincial Director Millicent Cariño said LCEs with two consecutive absences in PPOC meetings will face administrative charges.

Accomplishments of the Municipal Peace and Order Councils (MPOC) on security and anti-drug campaigns were presented by their LCEs during the PPOC meetings.

Gov. Bernos said PPOC will give recognition to the functional MPOCs to motivate the LCEs to work for peace and security in their areas.

DILG has selected five MPOCs to be awarded during “Rambak ti Kappia” or the celebration of peace in the province on July 9-13, 2019. Awardees are MPOCs of Bangued, La Paz, Pilar, Bucay, and Luba.
