Edwarson Ducayag of San Antonio Elementary School of Bangued bagged the most number of golds for Abra Stallion’s Athletics event during the 2019 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet in Luna, Apayao.

Ducayag garnered three golds in individual events: 400-meter, 800-meter, and 1500-meter run. He also received P9,000.00 incentives from the Provincial Government of Abra (PGA).

It was Edwarson’s second time to attend the CARAA meet. During the 2018 CARAA meet, he garnered 2 bronze medals for 800-meter and 4×4000-meter relay. He also received incentives from PGA.

He is the youngest son of Mr. Eduard Ducayag and Mrs. Rhealin Ducayag of Brgy. San Antonio, Bangued. To his coaches, he is an athlete with a “kaya” attitude. He is often heard saying “kaya” every time he feels challenged.

According to Mrs. Ducayag, Edwarson’s skills were discovered by his teachers Gregorio Plurad and Jonathan Costibolo.

A teary-eyed Mrs. Ducayag said that she is very happy because she did not expect his son to bring home three golds and will be representing the province at the Palarong Pambansa. She also said that they will be using Edwarson’s incentives for his studies and allowance at the Palarong Pambansa.

Edwarson also advised his fellow athletes to always give their best in training and competitions.
