Governor Joy Bernos and DTI Provincial Director Arell Bañez join the Global Bamboo and Rattan Congress 2018 at the China National Convention Center in Beijing from June 25 to June 27, 2018.

The governor and DTI PD Bañez are part of the Philippine Delegation headed by Senator Cynthia Villar who is the Senate Committee Chair on Agriculture and Food.

The event focuses on the importance of bamboo and rattan in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and South-South Cooperation, climate change action, livelihood improvement, technology innovations, and industry development.

The event is organized by the International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation (INBAR), National Forestry and Grassland Administration of the People’s Republic of China (NFGA), and ASEAN-China Centre (ACC).

With bamboo being Abra’s major product, the provincial government is optimistic the Bamboo and Rattan Congress 2018 will help address climate change, promote sustainable development, innovation and technology development, and eventually aid in generating more income and create more job opportunities for Abreños.
